چکیده

An emission at 281 nm with a 10.5 ns single exponential decay and a highly selective, narrow excitation region between 202 and 211 nm has been observed for Ce doped in Cs3LuCl6. Wavelengths between 50–200 nm and longer than 215 nm have zero excitation efficiency. Excitation and emission spectra of Cs3LuCl6 :Ce 31 in the 10–300 K temperature range were excited by pulsed synchrotron radiation between 50–335 nm. In addition to this new emission, the conventional Ce doublet emission from the lowest 5d level to the F5/2 ~368 nm! and F7/2 levels ~400 nm! of the 4 f 1 configuration is observed. Autoionization of the 5d electron to conduction band states followed by the direct transition to the F levels is proposed to explain the 281 nm emission and to explain the absence of emission under across bandgap excitation.

Scintillation properties and anomalous Ce(3+) emission of Cs(2)NaREBr(6):Ce(3+) (RE = La,Y,Lu).

We report the optical and scintillation properties of the Ce(3+)-doped bromoelpasolites Cs(2)NaREBr(6) (RE = La,Y,Lu). The γ-ray scintillation light yield of these materials varies from 6000 to 17 000 photons per MeV absorbed γ-ray energy. At room temperature (RT), the γ-ray scintillation decay curves for all compounds show a fast component of 61 ns, whereas the intrinsic Ce(3+) decay time is 3...

Effects of local structure of Ce3+ ions on luminescent properties of Y3Al5O12:Ce nanoparticles

Ce(3+)-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG:Ce) nanocrystals were successfully synthesized via a facile sol-gel method. Multiple characterization techniques were employed to study the structure, morphology, composition and photoluminescence properties of YAG:Ce nanophosphors. The YAG:Ce0.0055 sintered at 1030 °C exhibited a typical 5d(1)-4f(1) emission band with the maximum peak located at 525 nm...

Charge carrier and exciton dynamics in LaBr3:Ce scintillators: Experiment and model

The scintillation yield and decay time of LaBr3 doped with 0.2%, 0.5%, and 5% cerium were studied between 80 K and 600 K. LaBr3 :5%Ce 3+ on a photomultiplier tube shows at 300 K a very high scintillation yield of 22 800 photoelectrons per MeV 64 000 photons per MeV with a decay time of 16 ns. At 600 K the yield decreases by 15%. The scintillation yield of LaBr3 :0.2%Ce3+ is 19 800 photoelectron...

CHARACTERIZATION OF Ce-DOPED SCINTILLATING CRYSTALS FOR IMAGING ELECTRON BEAMS AT THE APS LINAC

There is growing interest in using inorganic crystals as radiation converters to determine transverse profiles and emittance of electron beams. Some of the more commonly available Ce-doped scintillating crystals are characterized. Electrons generated from a low-emittance rf thermionic gun are accelerated to 220 MeV through the Advanced Photon Source (APS) S-band linear accelerator. Visible fluo...
